K&M Tire Raises Money to Fight Cancer

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.

After seeing friends, employees and family members suffer from this deadly disease, employees of K&M Tire organized a team for what they felt was a worthwhile cause. The team, Kruisin' for a Miracle, is still going strong, five years later.

K&M Tire matches all money raised by employees dollar for dollar. This year (with K&M's matching), the team is on pace to raise over $10,000. Since the team started this crusade five years ago, they have raised in excess of $43,000.

Kruisin' for a Miracle holds several events throughout the year to raise money. Events have included: Texas Hold'em Tournaments, Cornhole Tournaments, Chicken Dinners, Brat Dinners, Soup Lunches, and our biggest fundraiser is a Bowling/Silent Auction event.

Our 5th Annual Bowling/Auction Event was held May 11, 2012. Over a hundred employees, friends, and families attended, raising over $5,600 at this single event for the American Cancer Society. In addition to bowling, attendees also participated in a 50/50 drawing and bid on over 60 items in a silent auction. Items auctioned off included tickets to amusement parks, major and minor league sporting events, a Nook reader, jewelry, coolers, golf items and gift certificates to hotels, restaurants, local clothing stores, fitness centers, and gas stations. All of the items auctioned off were donated.

The Relay For Life is an overnight relay-style event that is held in communities across the United States to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Members of each team take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event. Food, games, and activities provide entertainment and additional fundraising opportunities. This year the event will take place at Delphos Jefferson High School on June 22-23, 2012.

2011 Delphos United Way Campaign Completed at K&M Tire

 K&M completed their 2011 United Way successfully by more than doubling the number of donors pledging money to the United Way! The grand total amount pledged by employees was $2,838. Those donations will be matched by K&M for a total of $5,676.

The 2011 United Way Kickoff meeting was held on Thursday, November 17, 2011, with representatives from the United Way of Greater Lima, Van Wert County United Way, and the Delphos community present. They reviewed many of the programs/agencies funded by the United Way.

K&M is proud of its employees for stepping up and supporting this wonderful organization from which many people in our community benefit.

2011 Delphos United Way Kickoff Meeting Held at K&M Tire

On Thursday, November 17, 2011, representatives from the United Way of Greater Lima, Van Wert County United Way, the Delphos community and K&M Tire employees met at the corporate offices of K&M Tire to kick off the 2011 Delphos United Way Campaign.  Phil Hayne, the president of the United Way of Greater Lima, reviewed many of the programs/agencies funded by the United Way and reiterated that without the continued support of the Delphos community, local business and individuals many of these programs would not be possible.

United Way is one of the many organizations that K&M Tire supports.  We continually review the charities who we contribute to as we are looking for organizations that help supply basic needs to individuals that for whatever reason find themselves in need.  We try to team up with organizations that have low administrative costs so the money being donated is actually going towards improving people’s lives and allowing them to have some of the same basic needs that others may take for granted.

K&M Tire is a proud member of the Delphos community and being able to support many different organizations through the United Way is a great way we can give back.  We encourage our employees to do the same by matching all employee donations dollar for dollar.  We have seen first-hand the difference United Way can make and we are proud to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.

At K&M Tire we believe building a stronger community is the corner stone in building a successful business.

K&M Tire is committed to being a positive force and a good corporate citizen not only in the communities in which we are located, but also abroad in third world countries where those less fortunate are suffering hardships on a daily basis.

In the past, K&M Tire has partnered with such nationally known organizations as United Way, the American Cancer Society and Food for the Poor and is currently sponsoring sixteen orphaned children through the Angels of Hope program. K&M Tire also makes donations to area clubs, schools and churches and participates in local projects such as the Delphos Community Christmas Project and the Community Extreme Makeover.
